...style of Animation does not really appeal to me in the slightest. Granted, its not as though I've felt compelled to watch an animation series just because I've brought the toy line. I can probably count the number of episodes I have watched from the Unicron Trilogy on one hand, but still, I couldn't really see these designs translating to toys especially well. At least, not ones that I wanted to buy and have on display.
So, for a pretty long time, I've been happy with my decision that I would not be buying any of these, instead focusing on the back catalogues of Transformers I've still barely scratched the surface of. Oh, and comics of course, I needs my comics.
Of course, then I started actually seeing them. Pictures have been popping up across the Internet (bless the Interweb and its instant news) and while I have been resisting the notion with steely hearted determination...they're not that bad.
Ugh!!
I even find myself LIKING them which is irritating beyond words. There's no getting around it, the style is as far removed from the Live Action Movie line as it could be (thus far, my favourite Transformer line to date) but in their own, quirky way, they really have a lot of character.
I don't like them all, thankfully, Bulkhead doesn't appeal to me in the slightest, but the more of the other characters I see, the more I like them. Its a fairly big leap from what has come before and that's not automatically a bad thing. I know I wouldn't want the Transformer lines of the future to continue down this styling, and with a second Movie on the way it's a fair bet there will at least be a break, but I know, no matter how hard I try, I will be picking some of these up.
At least Ratchet anyway, I've forked out the cash on him already in my head.
Oh, and don't get me started on the new wave of Classics on the way...
*Sigh*
As I said, I am weak, I need to get myself more pennies.
